We would like to invite you, students and teachers from your country to

The GLOBE Games 2006 that will take place on May  5th 8th in the Czech Republic

 

globe2The GLOBE Games organizes TEREZA annually as a part of GLOBE Program in the Czech republic since 1998. It is a meeting of environmentally oriented students, teachers, scientists and special guests from both the Czech Republic and other countries. The GLOBE Games 2006 will be prepared as “GLOBE Games Czech Open”, where students will work in the international groups. They will explore a chosen area, share their experiences from student’s scientific measurements, start school-to-school collaboration and compete in special environmental topics covering many of the GLOBE protocol areas, such as measuring water quality, working with GPS, etc. They will also cooperate in special teambuilding tasks. We would like to invite from 5 to 8 students and 1 or 2 teachers from each country.

 

 

Where 

GLOBE Games 2006 will take place in the town Banov (near the town Uhersky Brod) in the East part of our country (close to boarder with Slovak Republic) – in the beautiful countryside and close to the Bile Karpaty Mountains.

GLOBE Games 2006 is organized by TEREZA Association in close cooperation with a very active GLOBE school “Primary school Banov”.

When 

Main part of the GLOBE Games will go on from 5th to 8th May 2006. We can offer you also additional program several days before and after the GLOBE Games. You can choose from optional Pre- and Post- GLOBE Games activities.. We will send you the detailed proposition in March.

Arrival to Czech Republic – to Prague or directly to Banov:  Wednesday May 3rd or Thursday May 4th

Thursday May 4th: sightseeing of Prague, meeting foreign participants with Czech students and teachers, visit to GLOBE school in Prague or sightseeing in Banov and its surrounding – Buchlovice castle, Luhacovice spa, Bile Karpaty Mountains

Friday May 5th: arrival to Banov, lodging

- sightseeing in Banov and its surrounding

- in the evening - Opening ceremony of the GLOBE Games - official introduction of schools – participants of the GLOBE Games 2006 and opening the GLOBE Games (theatrical, dance, song and computer presentations etc.)

Saturday May 6th: The GLOBE Games in the nature - international student teams will visit about 10 study sites. They will verify their knowledge at some of them, get familiar with new information at other, and in different sites they will try how successful is the cooperation of their team.

Teachers will have opportunity to accompany the international teams or participate in the special teachers’ activities.

Sunday May 7th: closing ceremony of the GLOBE Games, field trips, presentation of projects, common projects selection for next period

Monday May 8th: visiting the important and interesting places in the area of Banov region, moving to Prague or departure home

Tuesday May 9th: sightseeing of Prague, departure home

Participants

About 250 students and teachers from 30 schools from the Czech Republic and 40 students and teachers from European countries. (Poland, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Great Britain and may be from other countries) will participate at this event. The eligible age of students is 12 – 18. Each group must include at least one adult participant (GLOBE teacher, Country Coordinator, etc.)

We should recommend the group size from 5 to 8 students and 1 or 2 teachers from one country.

Economy

Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Czech Republic. There is a list of other expected costs for 1 person from abroad:

  • Accommodation in Prague in the hostel 16 €/night
  • Accommodation in Banov in Lopenik www.lopenik.cz (5.- 9.5. – 4 nights) 9 €/night including breakfast
  • Meals in Banov – lunch 1,5 €,  dinner 1,8 € ) 3,3 €/day
  • Meals in Prague and during trips 8 €/day
  • T – shirt& 7 €
  • articipation fee at GLOBE Games  10 €
  • Accompany program (trips etc.) – it will be specified together with detailed propositions

 We were asked for several grants and we are able to support participants from Poland, Hungary and Slovak republic in this way:

  • Transportation 200 €/per country
  • Accommodation and meals 220 €/per country
